Telephone Transmitted Electroencephalogram (EEG) |
How it Works/
What it is |
The EEG is transmitted via telephone lines from a remote transmitting site to Triad’s Neuroscience Lab where the EEG is received and interpreted by one of our neurologists. A pediatric Neurologist is on standby for the interpretation of pediatric/neonate EEGs. A report is sent to the transmitting site within 24 hours, under normal circumstances. |
| Benefit to Patient |
An EEG can be obtained within a facility that does not have an existing Neurologist or EEG Lab. The submitting techs are trained by qualified personnel from the receiving site. This results in a quicker diagnosis and the patient can have a quality study performed without excessive traveling. |
| Benefit to Referring Physician |
An inpatient or outpatient telephonic EEG can be scheduled and performed in a timely manner with the report being delivered, usually within a 24 hour period. Again, this results in quicker diagnosis and subsequent management of care. |
