How it Works/
What it is |
Ability too pass an endoscope through the entirety of the small bowel. Able to cauterize, inject, biopsy, remove polyps, etc., the full length of the small intestine. |
| Benefit to Patient |
Until now, the only way to care for a small bowel bleed was abdominal surgery. The DBE is a three hour procedure under moderate sedation. The patient is in and out in a matter of hours and able to return to work the next day. |
| Benefit to Referring Physician |
The benefit to a referring physician is the ability to have a test performed without having to send the patient to surgery. |
| Comments |
Drs. Leonard Ou Tim and Raymond Tobias are the only physicians in Alabama and the surrounding area that perform this procedure. |
